AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT

The Americans with Disabilities Act became law in 1990.  It was designed to assist the needs of the disabled and prohibit discrimination.  It's provisions were paved with good intentions.  Unfortunately,  unscrupulous people have sought to take advantage of the law and routinely file frivolous lawsuits against businesses for alleged violations of the Act.  The costs to businesses, especially small ones, can be significant in terms of settlement payments and attorney's fees.  With aggressive advocacy, we have been successful in fending off such frivolous lawsuits and obtaining dismissals without payment from our clients.
